Kreitlow praises ethanol plant

State Sen. Pat Kreitlow, D-Chippewa Falls, and other officials recently toured Western Wisconsin Energy, an ethanol plant in the Dunn County village of Wheeler.

"At this time last year, the WWE property was a corn field that contributed approximately $3,000 a year to the county's tas base," Kreitlow said. "This year, WWE will pay around $300,000. This is a very real and direct economic impact ot the local area. Combined with the creation of 37 jobs, this plant is economic development at its finest."

The WWE ethanol plant began operations in August 2006. It is designed to produce 40 million gallons of fuel grade ethanol per year.
