WWREC Hosts Annual Meeting Cooperative Members Receive Additional Dividend

MENOMONIE - Paul Harrison, President of the Western Wisconsin Renewable Energy Cooperative (WWREC) recently called  to order a presided over the 6th Annual Membership meeting in Menomonie.

In a meeting crowded with local investors, Harrison called to order the WWREC's Annual meeting which was held at the Off-Broadway Banquet Center. During the meeting, Harrison announced to members they would be receiving a financial dividend in conjunction with the Annual meeting. In making the announcement, Harrison commented, "By returning yet another dividend check this year, is proves we can build an environmentally-friendly plant that, with sound management, can weather tough economic times." This is the second dividend returned to investors by the Cooperative during the 2008 calendar year.

Commenting on the Annual meeting, was State Senator Pat Kreitlow, "Salutations to the ethanol plant staff, investors and the Cooperative Board. While a number of businessses have suffered in the Chippewa Valley, this plant continues to be a good investment for farmers and investors. I am proud of my constituents' ability to stay committed to energy independence and the promotion of agricultural markets. Since being appointed Chair of the Special Committee on Domestic Biofuels, I often share the Cooperative's success stories with my legislative colleagues."

Steve Christensen, WWE General Manager, also commented on the second dividend this calendar year "All major markets in the United States have experienced some volatile times this year. Fluctuating ethanol fuel and corn prices have forces us to work toward efficiency and utilize new technology whenever possible. By working together and engaging in sound management, we were able to provide an additional market for area corn, produce and sell ethanol and provide investors with a good return on their investment."

The WWE ethanol plant has been in operation since August 28, 2006. The plant is designed to produce 40 million gallons of fuel grade ethanol per year, which can be used in numerous vehicles being produced by automobile manufacturers.
